A group home for a person who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which offers continuous support and help for those in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled adolescents, but additionally, there are group homes for individuals with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral difficulties for example. Rather than sending those who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar place, a group home will help provide an appropriate environment to help individuals maintain stability within their lives and still have counsel and assistance at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside inside a group home could be involved in treatment services during residence, or could be taking steps to get their life set up outside the group home in order to at some point live on their own not in the group home. For example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain employment.
