Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment program. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to solve substantial drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those who decide on an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis every day or several days per week. This is often helpful for those who have recently completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a short history of drug use which is usually a really small number of clients. For somebody with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation programs which provide treatment on a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous rehabilitation alternative.
