Individuals who want to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to take part in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab center. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve substantial drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. People who do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services part-time daily or several days weekly. This is helpful for those who have recently completed a more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with just a brief history of drug use which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For a person with more severe addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation centers which offer rehabilitation on a long-term basis will probably be the more effective rehab choice.
