Dual diagnosis rehabs are centers which provide rehab to deal with both addiction and mental health issues simultaneously. Dual diagnosis is a very common circumstance for individuals involved with drug abuse, as people with mental health issues often medicate themselves with alcohol and drugs to experience some sort of temporary respite from their disorder. Rehabilitation counselors will work to identify environmental issues in the client's life including negative relationships or other things that must be addressed in order for the individual to remain mentally stable and sober t whenever they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also reap the benefits of behavioral treatment which helps them develop more effective coping mechanisms so they are better able to deal with life situations better when they leave dual diagnosis rehab instead of turning to alcohol and drugs as an inferior solution.
