LGBT is short for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are programs which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can often feel alone, not understood, and considered socially depraved. This is often a quite challenging and painful existence, and leads many LGBT people to a life of drug use to numb these feelings. Someone that is LGBT might not feel comfortable inside a conventional treatment facility amongst folks who aren't experiencing the same problems they may be experiencing of their lives. A LGBT program provides an environment that is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can be totally safe and comfortable divulging to their peers and rehab counselors issues which must be handled to enable them to recover. Rehab counselors within a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their family members, in case their family disagree with their sexual choice as is often the case. This situation is an extremely frequent trigger for drug use, and it is an example of something which could be handled in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often simply want to be accepted within their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and produce confidence in order to lead a wholesome life clear of drugs and alcohol.
