Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to participate in treatment services with the same commitment one would usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve substantial substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People that do choose an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and take part in counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days each week. This can be very helpful for individuals who have just completed a more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with just a short history of drug use which is really a very small amount of clients. For somebody with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facilities which offer rehab over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehabilitation option.
