Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to take part in treatment services with the same commitment you might ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug rehab center. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address substantial substance abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. Those that decide on an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services on a part-time basis every day or a few days a week. This is often helpful for individuals who have just completed a far more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a brief history of substance abuse which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For someone with more serious addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment facilities which offer rehab over a long-term basis will be the more effective rehabilitation choice.
