TRICARE is health insurance that is provided to individuals in the armed forces of the United States. Drug and alcohol use inside the military is more common than one would think, and the necessity to offer treatment to these individuals is a crucial priority. TRICARE covers a number of rehabilitation services to handle alcohol and drug dependence including detoxification services, along with rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. People who have TRICARE will of course be required to obtain a prior approval before taking part in any kind of treatment service, that may be arranged using a regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient facility is the preferred treatment choice, TRICARE will cover twenty-one days or one inpatient stay in such a facility per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are particular limits as to the length of time a TRICARE member can stay in the inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which can be very helpful, as it may help include family members in the healing and recovery process.
