Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be beneficial in circumstances where traditional treatment facilities have not meet expectations, such as coping with situations in the women's life which are unique and traumatic. Such issues may relate to sexual abuse, physical trauma, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and motherhood, or another serious issues which can be specific to women. Research has shown that women could also become involved in abusing drugs more easily than men, and so are more predisposed to illness as a consequence of addiction issues than males because of this. Because of responsibilities in their home, women also tend to put off trying to find and receiving treatment, a situation which can lead to catastrophe. That said, rehabilitation services for women are designed in order that a women's needs will be the focus and priority.
