Medicare is a kind of health insurance created by the U.S. government for seniors, along with people with certain disabilities and illnesses. If someone that has Medicare needs rehabilitation for cases of drug or alcohol abuse, their rehabilitation will either be covered fully by their Medicare insurance or to a significant extent. The only exception is, the person must receive treatment from a drug rehab facility which accepts Medicare. Before the person will be allowed to commence treatment, they will also have to see their medical doctor who must state that rehabilitation services are medically essential, and the doctor will usually approve what type of treatment the individual will take part in. Medicare Part An and Part B cover different types of rehab services. Part A covers an inpatient stay in a Medicare accepted program when the individual needs to be in a hospital for their problem, and the costs that they will have to pay for personally are the same as every other hospital stay. Part B will partly cover outpatient rehabilitation inside a Medicare accepted center, and the individual will need to cover whatever Part B doesn't pay for with supplemental insurance or they'll have to self pay.
