A group home for a person who has tbeen involved with drug abuse is a facility which offers continual support and help for individuals in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for people with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral difficulties for example. Rather than sending individuals who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home will help provide an appropriate environment to help individuals maintain stability in their lives and also have counsel and support within reach around the clock. People who reside in the group home could possibly be getting involved in treatment services during residence, or could be taking actions to get their life set up outside of the group home so that they can at some time live on their own outside of the group home. For example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or obtain employment. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent option, yet it's a viable short-term option for many who want to get their lives back together again.
