Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment center. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to address substantial substance abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. Those that choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily take part in meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services part-time daily or several days weekly. This can be very helpful for many who have just completed a far more thorough inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a very small number of clients. For someone with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab centers which provide treatment over a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehabilitation alternative.
