Criminal justice client rehabs can be considered like a far better option than incarceration or significant fines for individuals who have already been convicted of any sort of drug or alcohol related crime. As an example, a person who has been in prison for driving while impaired of alcohol or drugs may qualify to receive treatment services for his or her problem as an alternative to serving time in prison. The judge could even order that the individual receive rehab, either alone or together with other sentencing. First-time offenders specifically in many cases are given the ability to go with a criminal justice client rehab instead of other sentencing, and it is highly recommended that they reap the benefits of it if it's an alternative. The theory behind criminal justice client rehabs is that it is much more effective and efficient to invest time and energy into treatment than enforcement of other consequences. Much research has been carried out to discover how effective this approach is on recidivism rates, i.e. if the criminal justice client returns or not to criminal justice system following rehabilitation. The signs and indicators appear to be quite positive, and criminal justice clients that do take part in rehab have a much better chance of remaining out of the system after treatment.
