Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be worthwhile in circumstances where traditional treatment facilities have not meet expectations, like coping with situations in a women's life which can be distinctive and distressing. Such concerns may pertain to sexual abuse, physical abuse, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and motherhood, or another serious issues which are particular to women. Research has revealed that women can also get embroiled in drug use more readily than men, and therefore are more predisposed to sickness because of drug abuse problems than males as a result. Due to duties in their home, women also tend to put off trying to find and receiving treatment, a circumstance which can lead to disaster. That said, rehabilitation services for women are created so that a women's needs will be the focus and priority. Similar to coed programs, alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs which offer treatment services to women help women through detoxification and withdrawal as a starting point. After this step, counselors help women give attention to both basic and gender specific issues who have triggered their drug abuse. Women also utilize the beneficial support from other female peers, and several centers which offer treatment services to women also provide client beds for her children.
