LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can often feel alone, not understood, and viewed as socially depraved. This is often a very difficult and painful way to live, and leads many LGBT people to a life of drug use to numb these feelings. Someone that is LGBT might not feel relaxed in a traditional treatment facility amongst folks who aren't experiencing the same challenges they are experiencing in their lives. A LGBT center provides an environment that is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can be totally safe and comfortable divulging to their peers and rehabilitation counselors issues which must be handled so that they can get better. Treatment counselors within a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their family, in case their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is generally the case. This situation is certainly a common trigger for drug abuse, and is also an illustration of a thing that could be resolved in rehab. LGBT clients often only want to be accepted in their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and build confidence so that they can lead a wholesome life free of alcohol and drugs.
