TRICARE is medical health insurance which is provided to individuals in the armed forces of the United States. Drug abuse inside the military is more common than one would assume, and the need to provide rehab to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers numerous treatment services to address drug and alcohol dependence such as detox services, along with rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. Those that have TRICARE will of course have to obtain a prior approval before partaking in any sort of rehab service, that may be arranged using a regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program is the favored rehabilitation option, TRICARE covers 21 days or one inpatient stay in such a program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits as to how long a TRICARE member can stay in the inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window that's covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment which is often very useful, as it could help include family members in the healing and recovery process. No person in the military should fight this battle alone, and there are professional rehabilitation counselors waiting to help today.
