A group home for anyone who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and assistance for people in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for folks with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. As an alternative to sending individuals who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home may help offer an appropriate environment to help maintain stability in their lives and also have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside in a group home may be involved in treatment services whilst in residence, or may be taking measures to get their life setup outside the group home in order to at some time live independently not in the group home. By way of example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or acquire work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent solution, but it's a practical short term option for many who are trying to get their lives back together again.
