Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehabilitation client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to address substantial substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who decide on an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services part-time daily or a few days a week. This is helpful for those who have just completed a more thorough inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with just a short history of drug use which is really a really small number of clients. For a person with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers that provide treatment over a long-term basis are going to be the more effective rehab choice.
