A group home for someone who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a place which offers continual support and help for those in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled adolescents, but in addition there are group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. Instead of sending individuals who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar place, a group home can help provide an appropriate environment to help maintain stability inside their lives and have counsel and support within reach around the clock. Residents in the group home could be getting involved in rehab services whilst in residence, or may be taking actions to get their life set up outside the group home so that they can at one point live on their own outside the group home. For example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent answer, but it is a feasible temporary option for those who making the effort to get their lives back together.
