Dual diagnosis rehabs are centers which provide rehab to address both mental health and addiction issues concurrently. Rehabilitation counselors will work to recognize environmental factors in the client's life including negative relationships or other things that should be addressed in order for the person to be mentally stable and abstinen t after they depart dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral treatment that helps them develop more effective coping mechanisms so they are able to better deal with life situations better when they depart dual diagnosis rehab as opposed to turning to drugs as an inferior option.
