LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the unique needs of these clients. Individuals who are LGBT can feel alone, misunderstood, and seen as socially depraved. This is sometimes an extremely tough and painful way to live, and leads many LGBT people to a life of substance abuse to alleviate these feelings. Somebody that is LGBT may not feel comfortable in a conventional rehabilitation facility amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing in their lives. A LGBT center offers an environment which can be free from judgment, where LGBT clients can feel completely safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehab counselors problems which need to be handled to be able to recover. Rehab counselors within a LGBT rehab can help clients repair relationships with their loved ones, in case their family disagree with their sexual choice as is often the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for drug abuse, and is also an illustration of something which could be resolved in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often only want to be accepted in their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and create confidence to be able to lead a healthy life without any alcohol and drugs.
