TRICARE is health insurance that is provided to people in the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is more common than one would think, and the need to offer rehab to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers a number of rehabilitation services to address alcohol and drug dependence such as detoxification services, along with rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Individuals with TRICARE will obviously be required to get a prior authorization before partaking in any type of treatment service, that may be arranged with their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient facility is the favored treatment option, TRICARE covers a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in that facility per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are certain limits about how long a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window that's covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment which can be very beneficial, as it can certainly help include family members in the healing and process of recovery. No member of the military should struggle with this battle alone, and there are skilled rehabilitation counselors waiting to help you today.
