TRICARE covers a variety of treatment services to address alcohol and drug dependence such as detoxification services, in addition to treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Those that have TRICARE will naturally be asked to obtain a prior approval before taking part in any kind of rehabilitation service, which is often arranged using their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient program will be the favored rehab option, TRICARE covers a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in this particular program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits as to the length of time a TRICARE member can remain in the inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30 to 45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment which can be very useful, as it can certainly help include family members in the healing and recovery process.
