LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the unique needs of these clients. Those who are LGBT can feel alone, not understood, and seen as socially unwanted. This can be a very difficult and painful way to live, and leads many LGBT people to a lifestyle of drug use to alleviate this pain. Somebody who is LGBT may not feel relaxed inside a conventional rehabilitation program amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same challenges they may be experiencing of their lives. A LGBT center provides an environment that is totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be completely comfortable and safe divulging to their peers and rehabilitation counselors problems which need to be resolved so that they can get well. Treatment counselors within a LGBT rehab can help clients mend relationships with their family members, in the case their loved ones disagree with their sexual preference as is generally the case. This situation is certainly a common trigger for drug use, and is an illustration of something which could be resolved in treatment. LGBT clients often only want to be accepted within their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and create confidence so that they can lead a healthy life free from drugs and alcohol.
