TRICARE is medical insurance that's offered to folks in the armed forces of the United States. Drug and alcohol use inside the military is more common than one would imagine, and the necessity to provide rehabilitation to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers a number of treatment services to address alcohol and drug dependence such as detoxification services, as well as rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. People who have TRICARE will of course have to have a prior authorization before taking part in any sort of rehabilitation service, which may be organized using a regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient center could be the favored treatment option, TRICARE will cover 21 days or one inpatient stay in this program per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are specific limits concerning the length of time a TRICARE member can remain in an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that's covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling which is often very helpful, as it can help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process.
