A group home for anyone who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which offers continual support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for those with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. As an alternative to sending individuals who are struggling with substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home will help offer an acceptable environment to help individuals sustain stability inside their lives and still have counsel and support within reach 24/7. People who reside in the group home may be getting involved in rehab services whilst in residence, or may be taking actions to get their life setup outside of the group home in order to at some time live independently away from the group home. As an example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or acquire employment. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent answer, but it is a feasible short-term option for individuals who want to get their lives back together.
