Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be very useful in situations where conventional treatment settings have not meet expectations, such as coping with situations inside a women's life which are distinctive and distressing. Such concerns may pertain to sexual abuse, physical trauma, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family and motherhood, or any other significant issues which are specific to women. Research shows that women could also become involved in drug use more easily than men, and are more vulnerable to illness because of dependency issues than males because of this. Due to duties in their home, women also tend to postpone trying to find and receiving care for addiction, a situation which can lead to disaster. Being mindful of this, rehab services for women are created to ensure a women's needs are the concentration and priority. Much like coed programs, drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities which offer rehab services to women help women through detox and withdrawal as a first step. Following this step, counselors help women concentrate on both general and gender-specific issues who have induced their drug or alcohol use. Women also may take advantage of the constructive support from other female peers, and some programs that provide treatment services to women offer client beds for their children.
