Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services without the commitment one would normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation center. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to resolve substantial substance abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People that choose an outpatient rehab will typically take part in meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or a few days per week. This is very helpful for those who have just completed an even more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a brief history of drug use which is really a really small percentage of clients. For somebody with more serious drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers that provide rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous treatment alternative.
