A group home for a person who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which provides continual support and assistance for people in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but additionally, there are group homes for folks with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral difficulties for example. Instead of sending people who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar facility, a group home will help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability within their lives and still have counsel and assistance within reach around the clock. People who reside in the group home may be taking part in rehabilitation services while in residence, or may be taking actions to get their life setup outside of the group home to enable them to at some point live on their own outside of the group home. As an example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent option, but it's a viable short-term option for those who are trying to get their lives back together.
