A group home for somebody who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which offers continuous support and help for folks in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but there's also group homes for individuals with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. As an alternative to sending those who are struggling with substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar facility, a group home may help offer an appropriate environment to help sustain stability in their lives and have counsel and assistance within reach 24/7. People who reside in a group home may be involved in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or may be taking steps to get their life set up outside the group home in order to at one point live independently outside the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain employment. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent option, but it is a viable short term option for those who want to get their lives back together again.
