Medicaid is a type of health care insurance available for individuals who are in certain income brackets which qualifies them to receive this government funded insurance coverage. Whether an individual is qualified for Medicaid doesn't only depend on income however, and people shouldn't presume they don't qualify just because they make an acceptable income. By way of example, individuals who have many dependents may be eligible for Medicaid even though they earn what would be described as a sensible income. Medicaid also can cover the expenses of rehabilitation, when someone has been abusing alcohol or drugs and requires rehabilitation. There are many drug and alcohol treatment programs which accept Medicaid, but different states have different rules for what sorts of treatment are covered. Certain states only include outpatient rehabilitation services for example while other states cover far more intensive rehabilitation say for example a residential stay in long-term drug and alcohol rehab program. If someone is involved with drug abuse and wants help, they could use their Medicaid insurance coverage to obtain this treatment. If they do not have Medicaid and in addition don't have the cash or any other type of medical insurance to pay for treatment, they can determine if they are eligible for a Medicaid and then enroll in a drug treatment facility that is approved inside their state.
