A group home for anyone who has been involved in drug abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and assistance for individuals in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for people with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. As opposed to sending those who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home can help provide an acceptable environment to help sustain stability in their lives and still have counsel and support within reach 24/7. Residents in a group home might be involved in rehabilitation services during residence, or may be taking actions to get their life set up outside the group home in order to at some time live independently outside of the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or acquire work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent solution, but it's a practical temporary option for many who are attempting to get their lives back together.
