Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the treatment client to participate in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation center. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to solve substantial drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. People who choose an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and take part in counseling and rehab services part-time each day or several days each week. This is often helpful for many who have recently completed a much more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is usually a really small number of clients. For a person with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment centers that provide treatment on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehab option.
