Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would normally have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug treatment program. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to address significant substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who choose an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis daily or a few days each week. This is very helpful for those who have recently completed an even more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a very small amount of clients. For an individual with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities which offer rehab over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehab option.
