Criminal justice client rehabs are available being a significantly better option than prison time or heavy fines for many who have been convicted of any type of drug or alcohol related crime. For example, someone who has been in prison for dui of alcohol or drugs may qualify to obtain rehab services because of their problem as an alternative to serving time in jail. The judge could even order that the individual receive rehab, either alone or in addition to other consequences. First time offenders specifically in many cases are given the chance to choose a criminal justice client rehab as opposed to other sentencing, and it is highly recommended that they reap the benefits of it if it is an option. The idea behind criminal justice client rehabs is it is much more efficient and effective to invest time and effort into rehab than punishment. Much research has been done to discover how effective this process is on recidivism rates, i.e. if the criminal justice client returns or not to criminal justice system following rehabilitation. The signs and indicators seem quite positive, and criminal justice clients that do take part in rehabilitation have better chance of remaining out of the judicial system following rehab.
