Individuals who wish to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehab client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to solve substantial drug abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and be a part of counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis each day or a few days a week. This is very helpful for those who have recently completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is really a really small amount of clients. For someone with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment programs which provide treatment on a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial rehabilitation option.
