TRICARE is health insurance that is offered to members of the military of the United States. Drug and alcohol use within the military is much more common than one would imagine, and the necessity to provide rehabilitation to these individuals is a crucial priority. TRICARE covers numerous treatment services to address drug and alcohol dependence including detox services, in addition to rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Individuals with TRICARE will of course be asked to obtain a prior authorization before taking part in any type of treatment service, which is often organized with their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program will be the preferred treatment option, TRICARE covers twenty-one days or one inpatient stay in this facility per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are specific limits about how long a TRICARE member can remain within an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which is often very beneficial, as it may help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process.
