Individuals who wish to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would normally have to consent to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation center. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve substantial substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time on a daily basis or several days weekly. This is often helpful for many who have just completed an even more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a very small amount of clients. For someone with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment centers that provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial rehabilitation option.
