A group home for a person who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a place which offers continuous support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for folks with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. As opposed to sending people who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home can help offer an appropriate environment to help maintain stability within their lives and have counsel and assistance at their fingertips around the clock. Residents in the group home might be involved in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or could be taking measures to get their life setup outside of the group home so that they can at one point live independently outside the group home. For instance, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or acquire employment. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent option, but it is a sensible temporary option for individuals who are attempting to get their lives back together again.
