TRICARE covers a variety of rehab services to address alcohol and drug dependence such as detoxification services, as well as rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Those that have TRICARE will of course have to have a prior authorization before taking part in any type of rehabilitation service, which is often arranged using their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient program will be the preferred treatment choice, TRICARE covers a three week period or one inpatient stay in this facility per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are certain limits concerning how long a TRICARE member can stay within an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling that may be very helpful, as it can help include family members in the healing and process of recovery. No person in the military should fight this battle alone, and there are professional rehab counselors ready to help today.
