People who are LGBT can feel alone, not understood, and seen as socially unwanted. This is sometimes a quite challenging or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT people to a life of drug abuse to numb these feelings. Someone who is LGBT might not feel safe inside a traditional rehabilitation program amongst people who aren't experiencing the same problems they may be experiencing of their lives. A LGBT facility offers an environment that is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally comfortable and safe revealing to their peers and rehabilitation counselors issues which need to be handled to be able to recover. Rehabilitation counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients repair relationships with their loved ones, in the case their family disagree with their sexual preference as is often the case.
