A group home for someone who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which offers continual support and help for those in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. Rather than sending those who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar facility, a group home will help provide an appropriate environment to help individuals sustain stability in their lives and still have counsel and assistance at their fingertips 24/7. People who reside in the group home could possibly be involved in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or could be taking measures to get their life setup outside the group home to enable them to at some point live on their own outside the group home. For example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent option, but it's a viable temporary option for those who want to get their lives back together.
