Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would normally have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve substantial substance abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People who choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily attend meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services part-time each day or several days each week. This is very helpful for many who have recently completed an even more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with just a brief history of substance abuse which is really a very small number of clients. For an individual with more significant drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs which provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehab option.
