LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the unique needs of these clients. Those who are LGBT can often feel alone, not understood, and viewed as socially unwanted. This is sometimes a quite challenging and painful way to live, and leads many LGBT people to a lifestyle of drug abuse to alleviate these feelings. Someone who is LGBT might not feel comfortable within a conventional rehab facility amongst people who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing within their lives. A LGBT center provides an environment which is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can be totally comfortable and safe divulging to their peers and rehabilitation counselors problems which have to be resolved to enable them to get well. Rehab counselors within a LGBT rehab can help clients fix relationships with their loved ones, in the event their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is usually the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for abusing drugs, and it is a good example of something which will be handled in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often would like to be accepted within their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and create confidence to be able to lead a wholesome life free from alcohol and drugs.
