Medicare is a form of medical insurance designed by the government for seniors, in addition to those that have certain disabilities and sicknesses. If a person who has Medicare needs rehab for instances of substance abuse, their treatment will be either covered completely by their Medicare insurance or to a significant extent. The only exception is, the person will have to obtain treatment from the alcohol and drugs detox facility which accepts Medicare. Before the person will be allowed to start rehab, they will also have to see their medical doctor who must state that rehabilitation services are medically necessary, and the doctor will generally approve what type of rehabilitation the individual will take part in. Medicare Part An and Part B cover several types of rehabilitation providers. Part A covers an inpatient stay in a Medicare accepted program when the individual must be in a hospital for their issue, as well as the costs that they will have to cover personally are the same as any other hospital stay. Medicare Part B will partly cover outpatient rehabilitation within a Medicare accepted center, and the individual will need to cover whatever Part B doesn't pay for with supplemental insurance or they'll have to self pay.
