Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to take part in rehabilitation services with the same commitment you might normally have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment program. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address substantial substance abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. Those that choose an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services part-time daily or several days per week. This is very helpful for individuals who have just completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a short history of substance abuse which is usually a really small amount of clients. For somebody with more significant drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation centers which offer rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehab alternative.
