Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the treatment client to participate in treatment services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to resolve significant drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everybody. People who do decide on an outpatient rehab will typically show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services part-time daily or a few days weekly. This is very helpful for individuals who have recently completed an even more thorough inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a very small number of clients. For someone with more severe addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment centers which offer treatment on a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous treatment choice.
