Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would normally have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to solve substantial substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. People that do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services on a part-time basis each day or several days per week. This is helpful for many who have just completed a far more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with just a short history of drug use which is really a very small percentage of clients. For someone with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation centers which provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial rehabilitation choice.
