Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab program. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address substantial substance abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services part-time on a daily basis or a few days weekly. This can be very helpful for individuals who have just completed a much more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with just a short history of drug use which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For somebody with more serious drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehab programs that provide rehab on a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous rehabilitation alternative.
