Outpatient rehab allows for the rehab client to take part in treatment services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to address significant drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. People that decide on an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services part-time on a daily basis or several days weekly. This can be very helpful for individuals who have recently completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with just a brief history of drug use which is really a really small amount of clients. For an individual with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab centers which provide treatment over a long-term basis will probably be the more effective rehab alternative.
